Since the launch of our SQ-5A vacuum tube integrated amplifier in 1961, we have continued making vacuum tube amps without a break. We have produced many models that are highly valued as signature models and satisfied music lovers are enjoying them to this day, even several decades after their release. The CL-38uC and MQ-88uC combine LUXMAN's history of producing fine vacuum tube products and the traditional wisdom and skills gained along the way.

Luxman MQ-88uC amplifiers employ top-notch components, including Luxman transformers, blocking capacitors, and Nichicon metalized polypropylene film coupling capacitors for a natural tone. Internal wiring has been shortened to improve audio quality. Styling is nostalgic - modeled on the 1970 CL-35 CL-38uC control amp and MQ-60 1969 MQ-88uC power amp – and equipped with carefully selected knobs and lever switches for a classic, functional appearance. The MQ-88uC uses JJ Electronic's KT-88 output tubes, famed for their power and rich sound. A triode configuration ensures long tube life and transparency. The paralleled first stage and Mullard driver stage lead to a Mullard-compatible push-pull final stage, producing 25 Watts per channel at 4, 8, and 16 ohm with minimal distortion. All CL-38uC control amplifiers and MQ-88uC power amplifiers undergo a 48-hour aging process and performance check post-assembly. JJ Electronic tubes are chosen due to their reliable, long-lasting operation, even in high-heat, high-voltage amp settings.

 

The MQ-88uC's independent terminals for 4, 8, and 16-ohm speakers provide optimal sound reproduction, low distortion, and adjustable volume. Plus, bypassing the input section and connecting a source device directly to the output section is made possible with its variable input mode.
