The task of designing the new Planar 3 to replace the award-winning RP3 was quite challenging. In order to improve ergonomics, usability, and sonic quality, Rega's Roy Gandy and his team spent two years on the project. They decided to keep only two components from the previous model and focused on creating a lightweight, double-braced, acrylic-laminated plinth to minimize energy absorption and resonance. The result is a top-notch performance.

RB330 tonearm uses 3D CAD & CAM tech and 35 years of experience. Featuring new bearing housing & tonearm tube designed for reduced resonance. Precision bearings give almost friction-free movement for top vinyl performance. Plinth in high-gloss acrylic & 3 finishes. Double brace tech for 3mm phenolic bottom brace, metalized skin phenolic top brace. Re-designed brass hub bearing, and foot for improved stability & vibration transfer. 24 V motor, new motor control PCB, Neo PSU for speed change & advanced anti-vibration circuit (sold separately). Motor cover tray with cooling. Dust cover, protector, multi-lingual quick start guide & sub-platter. Platter, 12mm ‘Optiwhite’ float glass polished edge.
